Director – ILSA Management Committee (Volunteer role)

INDEPENDENT LIVING SUPPORT ASSOICATION

The Director role is key to sustaining our reputation as a quality service provider and to meeting our goals and objectives. ILSA is a non-profit, member-based association, whose purpose is supporting people living with a physical, intellectual and/or psychosocial disability, and elderly Australians receiving Home Care Packages, to remain living independently in their own home. Our vision is to enable independent living and inclusivity for all. Our principles are the backbone of how we function and include: • Operate within a person-centred framework. • Promote flexible, independent living sensitive to individual needs. • Manage the Association under the guidance of individuals with lived experience. • Engage in open and honest communication. • Secure ongoing viability through creative and innovative solutions. • Advocate equitable life choices for all people living with a disability. • Remain personal and approachable no matter our size.

The Director role involves joining the Management Committee one lunch time each month over approximately 10 months of the year. You can join in person or online, the choice is yours. If you choose to join in person, lunch and transfers are covered by ILSA. Key activities include working with fellow Committee members to oversee strategy development and implementation; reviewing financial reports; risk management oversight; service delivery accountability; and monitoring and reviewing the CEO’s performance.

We are seeking candidates with experience in a governing or managerial role, ideally with knowledge of the disability and aged care sectors. We are also interested in hearing from individuals with lived experience in living with a disability (whether directly or indirectly) and individuals with lived experience in Home Care Packages. We encourage applications from all ages, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, nonbinary people, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and LGBTIQA+ communities.
