Physio Assistant Volunteer

Exercise is so important at every age! As a physio assistant volunteer you will be in a supportive role, encouraging residents to participate in their exercise classes (even by doing so yourself and setting a great example) and helping them get there from their rooms. You may be pushing a wheelchair to transport them or walking alongside. You'll also be helping the physios by handing out equipment in the class and tidying up afterwards to reset for the next group.
This role requires compassion for the elderly, patience and a willingness to work in partnership with the staff. It is also best for a long-term volunteer so relationship and trust can be built with the residents. You will enjoy getting to know people and have opportunities to chat with the residents, and benefit from their life experience. It would possibly suit a physio/exercise science student, but no special skills are actually required.
