As a vital member of our team, you will work closely with Farm My School Board members, co-founder James McLennan and FMS staff, to help build a dynamic operating environment, raise awareness of the work of the charity and attract new support.

You will be our Marketing and Communications lead and may act as a mentor to our team members. You will be happy to make an up to 5 hour per week commitment to Farm My School.

Responsibilities and Duties

Marketing

  • Collaborate with relevant team members to develop and implement a marketing and communications strategy for FMS’s brand, programs, and other strategic initiatives, ensuring the maintenance of brand communications across all platforms
  • Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships to leverage FMS’s strengths and organisational objectives
  • Regularly evaluate and optimise organisational marketing performance and manage ongoing marketing and communications reporting
  • Provide relevant data and insights to support organisational brand performance monitoring, forecasting, and decision-making within appropriate timeframes
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in marketing and related fields to ensure marketing plans and strategies are current and effective
  • Oversee the update and refresh of brand kit as needed
  • Assist with the development of the FMS pitch deck for partnerships/funders etc.

Communications

  • Collaborate with relevant team members to produce and distribute organisational content, including newsletters, social media, EDMs, press releases, annual reports and blog posts to enhance FMS's brand and position within the marketplace
  • Develop and maintain FMS’s marketing collateral and branded materials as required
  • Ensure all content produced adheres to our style guide and is consistent in tone, messaging and graphic identity.

General tasks

  • Maintain the organisation’s website and SEO optimisation
  • Work with relevant team members to develop and execute FMS’s events program
  • Work with relevant team members to support project and program design and delivery as required
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with FMSs internal team to drive collaboration to deliver high quality outcomes
  • Participate in other FMS activities and projects as required.

  • Good interpersonal skills– able to work in a team situation and communicate clearly
  • Able to work remotely within flexible hours,
  • Ability to think outside the square, be a self-starter, work autonomously
  • Discretion for confidential information.

Farm My School Board of Directors

The FMS Board governs and oversees the work of Farm My School. The Board is a collegiate and high-functioning group with diverse experiences and skills, the composition of which is informed by the Board skills and diversity matrix. Director terms are for a maximum of nine-years (3 years x 3 terms).

The key responsibilities of the Board include:

  • Monitoring the financial, risk, legal, compliance and strategic environment.
  • CEO performance, remuneration and development.
  • Setting strategic plans and approving annual operating budgets and annual audited financial statements.
  • Contributing foresight, contemporary governance expertise and subject matter knowledge in line with the Board skills.

The Board meets regularly in person and online for between two-three hours predominantly during business hours, and occasionally after hours. There are also sub-committees that provide Directors with opportunities to engage more closely with our work.
