Centre Coordinator
Gosford 50+ Leisure and Learning Centre Inc. is operated by a Voluntary Management Committee. The Centre’s main aim is to provide a safe, friendly environment for people over the age of 50 years to meet and participate in activities that will provide physical, mental and social wellbeing. As a Centre Coordinator volunteer at the Gosford 50+ Learning and Leisure Centre, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth daily operation of the centre. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the quality of services we offer to our members, creating an environment that is welcoming, well-managed, and supportive for all attendees. You will work closely with the Centre’s committee and fellow volunteers to assist in maintaining the Centre’s operations while also stepping into various roles to ensure that the centre runs seamlessly. Key Responsibilities:
- Be the Heart of the Centre: As the Centre Coordinator, you will play a key role in creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for members of the Gosford 50+ Learning and Leisure Centre. Your presence will ensure that everyone feels safe, supported, and engaged in their community.
- Ensuring Smooth Operations: You will take ownership of opening and closing the Centre, ensuring that all operations run smoothly, and the environment is always ready to host members for a variety of activities and events.
- Resolving Challenges and Supporting the Community: Whether it’s helping a member with a concern or solving an issue that arises during the day, your ability to resolve challenges in a calm and thoughtful manner will make a huge difference. If necessary, you will escalate matters to the committee to ensure any concerns are promptly addressed, maintaining the Centre as a positive space for everyone.
- Support the Committee and Fellow Volunteers: Your assistance with the day-to-day running of the Centre will have a direct and meaningful impact on the community, helping ensure that programs, activities, and events run smoothly and efficiently.
- Flexibility to Serve: Whether it's stepping into the kitchen to assist volunteers, supporting reception, or covering another volunteer role, your willingness to adapt will ensure that the Centre operates flawlessly, even during busy times or when the team is short-staffed. Our ideal volunteer will have a welcoming presence, be a problem solver with a heart for people, act as a collaborative team player, will demonstrate adaptability and flexibility, and most of all will have a passion for community. By taking on this role, you won’t just be helping run a Centre—you’ll be playing a key role in creating a space where the senior community can learn, connect, and thrive. Your contribution will be truly invaluable! Onsite training and ongoing support will be provided to ensure you feel confident and equipped to perform your role. You will receive guidance from the Voluntary Committee to help you succeed, and regular feedback will be offered to support your development.
