About the opportunity

Primary Purpose of the Position

The Mallacoota Associations Support Project aims to address volunteer fatigue and organizational burdens by providing strategic support and guidance for a few of the 40 - 60 incorporated associations, with a focus on making processes more efficient and offering targeted guidance. The community are seeking a skilled volunteer to optimise the overall efficiency of these local bodies through organisational audits, an evaluation of operational structures to then advise on best practices for organisational restructure/ merger to create stronger and more sustainable entities.

The tasks and deliverables of this Assignment are:

• Conduct a comprehensive organizational audit of the incorporated organisations in Mallacoota and District, to work out synergies between them and advise on potential points of consolidation.

• Understand and advise community on DGR status, ACNC registrations, Public Benevolent institution, salary packaging complexities and auspicing arrangements involved in the merging process.

• Facilitate a community organisations workshop:

o Identifying and sharing alternate operating structures and the benefits of organisational consolidation to streamline and improve internal efficiencies.

o Opportunity to showcase success stories of merged organizations e.g. Nowa Nowa, Lake Tyers, Mirboo North, Omeo

o Kickstart the process of transition plans o Demystify the process around legal and financial requirements or incorporated associations

Selection Criteria:

Experience in organisational audits

o Demonstrated experience in conducting comprehensive organizational audits, including identifying synergies, operational efficiencies, and opportunities for consolidation among incorporated organizations.

• Knowledge of legal and financial structures of incorporated associations o Proven understanding of Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) registrations, Public Benevolent Institutions (PBI), salary packaging, and auspicing arrangements

• Facilitation and engagement skills o Strong skills in facilitating workshops and community engagement, including the ability to communicate complex concepts in an accessible manner and foster collaboration among diverse stakeholders.

• Coaching and mentoring capabilities o Demonstrated ability to provide effective coaching and mentoring support to community groups, particularly through online platforms, ensuring groups feel supported during periods of change.
