Burwood Council's Volunteering Program
Over four weeks away
About us
Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC) is a feminist, community-based organisation that supports women and children in crisis. Every night, we support 200 women and children impacted by domestic violence, homelessness, and other disadvantage.
Walk for WAGEC, our flagship fundraiser event, is a 5km walk or 10km run around Centennial Park, Sydney, to raise money for women and children impacted by violence.
The event is on the 4th May, 2025, and we need your help! Walk for WAGEC 2025 is set to be the biggest ever, and we’re looking for a crew of passionate volunteers to assist with the event.
Location and Time:
- Centennial Park, Sydney
- Sunday 4th May 2025, approximately 7am-12pm (arrival times range from 6-7am depending on volunteer role)
About the role
Volunteering at Walk for WAGEC is a great opportunity to get involved with WAGEC's wonderful community and help us raise money to support women and children impacted by violence. Whether you have been following WAGEC for years or have just learned about the organisation, signing up for the Walk Crew is a fantastic opportunity to connect with others who share your values, and take part in a fun and empowering day of advocacy.
Volunteers will be assigned Walk Crew roles and will attend virtual briefings prior to the event to learn about volunteering at WAGEC and Event Day logistics. Volunteers are a crucial part of Walk for WAGEC and will work alongside WAGEC staff to keep the event running smoothly. We will need volunteers’ support throughout the morning of the event, and the event management team will work hard to ensure moral is up and you have everything you need to keep you feeling inspired throughout the day!
Requirements:
- Availability on Sunday 4th May 2025
- Willingness to attend a virtual event briefing the week before the event
