Volunteer - Dom's Place

SUPPORTING MEN, WOMEN & FAMILIES WHO ARE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS OR SOCIAL ISOLATION
Dom’s Place operates as a ‘one-stop-shop,’ an inclusive space where people can feel safe and connected. Some people pop in to get a meal, wash their clothes and chat with a social worker to address housing needs. Others come and play a game of pool, use the computers and connect with employment pathways. Case management, counselling, groups and mental health supports, as well as referrals to other services as needed. Other local services also operate from Dom’s Place including legal, housing, cultural, financial and medical services. People can drop in when they like, no appointment is needed.
To assist with the day to day running of Dom’s Place, we are looking for volunteers that can help with daily general upkeep and supporting our visitors with activities. These include but not limited to: • Helping to setup, cook and pack down and clean BBQ held twice a week • Supporting the weekly working group. The working group currently works on fixing bikes so they can be donated to children • Tidying up bathroom and shower area, wash and put away towels and replenish toiletry supplies • General tidying of sitting areas (indoor and outdoor) • Sorting and tidying of donations and putting away food donations in the pantry • General cleaning of communal kitchen areas and dining room • Maintain front and back gardens, weeding and watering Additionally, we are also looking for volunteers who may have more specific skills and qualifications that can provide support and services to our clients, such as: • Resume writing/Interviewing for employment • Daily Living Skills • Providing free hair cuts/general grooming • Experience with data analysis/research • Nurses • GP’s For more information or to discuss volunteering opportunities available please forward your expression of interest to teresa.phillips@catholiccaredbb.org.au
