As part of the federally funded Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme; compassionate, caring and friendly volunteers are needed to visit and provide social support with elderly people living in their own homes or in Residential aged care homes. It is purely about social interaction, connection and conversation so as to provide some joy and pleasure in the life of these clients. A commitment of at least 1 hour a fortnight is needed on an ongoing basis so a rapport and trust can be developed between the volunteer and the older person. Individuals who are willing to give a little bit of their time in conversation, who are patient and compassionate, and have a positive attitude for life are encouraged to apply.
