Music/singing, especially in a group setting, offers amazing benefits for brain health and overall well-being. It can be particularly helpful for our seniors, fostering a sense of belonging and providing valuable social connection, especially for those living with dementia.

Experience and Skill:

• Musical knowledge: A high level of proficiency playing the Chinese flute, a strong understanding of Chinese music theory, experience performing Chinese music, and ideally, some formal training or certification in teaching music.

• Cultural understanding: Familiarity with Chinese musical traditions, cultural context, and relevant repertoire.

• Communication skills: Ability to explain complex musical concepts in a clear and concise way that is easy for students to understand.

• Patience and empathy: Being patient and encouraging is essential to help students feel confident and bring out the best in them

• Ability to tailor instruction: Ability to adapt your teaching style to fit the needs of each individual student.

As a volunteer instructor, you’re committed to conduct:

• Weekly sessions lasting one hours

• Anytime between 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday.

• Term commences on Monday 28 Apr – 4 Jul 2025.

Our school is conveniently situated in Sydney’s CBD, in close proximity to Town Hall or St James station.
