English Language for the Aged Care workplace - Volunteer Tutor

English Language Volunteer tutors are required for a pilot program which will assist ‘English second language’ (ESL) employees in Aged Care setting to improve their language, literacy, and numeracy skills. This program will focus on coaching students to read and write routine workplace texts and participate in spoken workplace interactions. It will be delivered as a face to face learning opportunity, providing vocational teaching to individual team members and/or small groups. You will be supported in this volunteer role by the Learning and Development team who will assist you in preparing a strategy to meet the learners’ needs. To be successful in this role, ideally you will have: • High level of proficiency in English language, both spoken and written • Good communication and interpersonal skills including basic digital literacy • Experience teaching English and comprehension to adults • An understanding of and empathy for people from culturally and linguistically diverse groups • Have some experience or knowledge of the Aged Care Sector • Ability to work independently This pilot program will run for limited sessions in multiple locations throughout Greater Sydney and regional NSW. Specific days and times will be organised to suit volunteer and employee availability.
