Role Overview The GovHack Tech Lead is responsible for overseeing all aspects of GovHack’s technical strategy and execution. This role involves managing GovHack’s technology infrastructure, data management, and platform support to ensure smooth and secure event operations. It is ideal for IT professionals and software engineers interested in managing event platforms, data security, and analytics. As the Tech Lead, you will be responsible for building and leading a team of volunteers to maintain and enhance GovHack’s technical ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities Oversee and manage GovHack’s platforms and systems, ensuring their functionality, security, and reliability. Lead and guide technical team. Ensure all technology infrastructure is secure, performant, and cost-effective. Maintain and enhance the Hackerspace portal, GovHack website, and data systems. Provide technical support and assist teams with tech-related queries. Analyse event and competition data to derive insights and improvements.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience in IT, software development, data management, or system administration.
  • 1–2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in managing teams, volunteers, or technical projects is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to work with and guide cross-functional teams toward achieving technical goals.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity, system performance, and platform management.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, ensuring effective collaboration with stakeholders, team members, volunteers, and participants.

Expected Time Commitment 25 hours per month, could be more closer to the main events.
