Role Overview The GovHack Regional Lead is responsible for delivering a successful GovHack event in their designated region. This role involves overseeing the Regional Operations Team (ROT) while receiving support and guidance from the International Operations Team (IOT). Regional Leads will be invited to participate in weekly calls with IOT. You will also receive support from various national teams, including volunteer management, marketing, and communications, as needed. Additionally, Operations Support will be available for your assistance. As a Regional Lead, you will take charge of GovHack operations in your region, ensuring smooth event execution and strong community engagement. You will build a local team of volunteers to help and support the planning, organising and delivering of events in your region.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the planning and execution of GovHack events in the region.
- Engage with local sponsors, government bodies, and community stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the International Operations Team to ensure consistency.
- Support and guide the Deputy Region Lead and regional support volunteers.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Must be based in the state where you are applying.
- Ability to handle personal information with sensitivity and discretion.
- 1–2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in hiring, managing teams, and volunteer management is highly desirable.
- Strong ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Sponsorship and fundraising skills are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, team members, volunteers, and participants. Strong written and verbal communication is essential for event coordination and documentation.
- Strong project management, time management, and leadership skills.
Expected Time Commitment Approximately 25 hours per month, with the potential for increased hours closer to the main events.
