About the Role Key Responsibilities • Uphold MCMS’ mission and values by acting in the best interests of the organisation, and avoiding, and actively managing, any conflicts of interest • Participate actively in Board meetings • Contribute to the development and oversight of MCMS’ strategic goals and initiatives, financial performance, and sustainability • Provide insights and recommendations on key decisions to strengthen MCMS’ operations • Provide expertise in your area of knowledge to support organisational objectives • Act as an ambassador for MCMS, promoting its vision and mission to external stakeholders, and build connections with potential partners, sponsors and stakeholders • Contribute to the organisation's good governance, risk management, and regulatory compliance including the ACNC and ASIC Governance Standards

Experience and Capabilities Essential • Experience in any of the following areas:

o Strategic Planning and Implementation o Business Development and Change Management o Marketing o Risk Analysis and Management o Accounting/Finance o Compliance and Accountability o Engagement and Communication Strategies o IT and Digital Systems and Strategies o Law and Legal Services

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Commitment to governance best practices and willingness to comply with regulatory standards and relevant organisational policies • A strong commitment to MCMS’ objective. • Diplomacy and a natural affinity to develop networks with key stakeholders including state and federal government

Desirable • Knowledge of the disability sector, lived experience of a disability or has a close relationship with someone with a disability. • Willingness to remain on the board for at least two years.

About the Organisation My Choice My Support (MCMS) is a company limited by guarantee and was established in 2016. MCMS is a not-for-profit organisation run by a small, dedicated team, proudly offering personalised support services to people with a disability. Our objective is for the people we support to exercise personal choice and control over the services they receive with MCMS, so that everybody has an experience tailored to their individual goals and needs. MCMS operates across the ACT, and we also offer ad hoc services to people who are visiting Canberra and would like temporary support services during their stay. At My Choice My Support, we are deeply committed to a rights-based approach to supporting people with disability. We aim to employ and support, through professional development, support workers whose values align with those of the organisation. My Choice My Support links people with a disability to fully qualified support workers who will provide services within the person’s home and in the community. We aim to connect people based on mutual interests and personalities as well as the necessary skill sets required to meet individual support needs. We understand the importance of taking a person-centred approach to service delivery so that people with a disability receive the highest quality support.
