Engineer to work on steam ships

We seek persons interested in becoming engineers aboard our two steamers currently in-survey (i.e. passed as operational by a qualified Marine Surveyor). They are 1902 VIP steam launch Lady Hopetoun, (3 cylinder triple expansion engine, coal fired water tube boiler) and 1902 steam tug Waratah (two cylinder compound engine, Scotch fire tube boiler, coal fired). Both are used frequently on paying passenger-carrying cruises and require engineers with steam ticket. We provide an in-house steam engineer's course which is TAFE recognised, to obtain your ticket. Have a look at our website shf.org.au to see how often these cruises occur. Big events include Boxing Day's Sydney - Hobart start, New Year's Eve fireworks, Transport Heritage weekend in October, and Australia Day, which give you an unparalleled chance to be at the centre of the action.
Cruises start from our Rozelle Bay shipyard, reached by light rail, or frequent buses from Town Hall and Victoria Road. There is limited on site parking across James Craig Road.
