Role Overview As the Finance and Accounting Team Lead, you will be responsible for managing GovHack’s financial operations, ensuring transparency, accountability, and sustainability in budgeting and expense management. This role is ideal for finance professionals, accountants, or students looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit financial management. You will work closely with the sponsorship and event teams to ensure financial efficiency and regulatory compliance, supporting the overall success of GovHack’s initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate financial records, track expenses, and process reimbursements.
- Assist in budget planning and financial reporting to ensure fiscal responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit financial regulations and best practices.
- Collaborate with the sponsorship team on funding allocations and budget forecasting.
- Provide financial guidance and oversight to support event planning and execution.
- Monitor cash flow, prepare financial statements, and oversee expense tracking.
- Develop and refine financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
- Liaise with the board, bookkeeper, accountant, and auditor to ensure financial sustainability and accountability.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Degree or certificate in finance or accounting.
- Experience in budgeting, financial management, or bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with nonprofit financial regulations and compliance is highly regarded.
- Proficiency in financial software and accounting tools.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Expected Time Commitment:
- 15 hours per month, with additional time required after each event.
