Friendship Companion for the Elderly - Mandarin Speaking
The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre is advertising this role on behalf of mecwacare.
A friendship companion supports the wellbeing of an older person on a weekly or fortnightly basis. They alleviate isolation and loneliness by having a cuppa and a chat. Alternatively, they can engage in a mutual interest such as:
- walking
- reading
- sport
- dog companionship
- music
- arts & craft
- gardening
mecwacare is excited to be participating in the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) which supports isolated and lonely people who are receiving aged care services in an aged care home or through a home care package.
If you can spare 1 hour fortnightly and want to give back to your local community, we would love to hear from you.
Please register and our Volunteer Coordinator Fiona Feenaghty will be in touch to answer any questions you may have.
