As a volunteer, you will:

• Offer Compassionate Support: Provide emotional encouragement and a listening ear to individuals accessing women services, delivering holistic supports with clinical teams and families as you assist in supporting babies, children and teens in need. Fostering an inclusive and nurturing environment for our diverse community of all ages.

• Engage in Social and Recreational Activities: Assist and deliver activities that promote joy, community, therapeutic support, procedure distraction and diverse well-being opportunities for patients, their dependents and family members.

• Receive Comprehensive Training: Undergo thorough training and onboarding to ensure you are well-prepared and confident as your role will directly enhance patient comfort and care within our special care nursery, children’s ward, maternity and birth suite unit. (Note: Police Checks, Working With Children’s Check required)

• Enjoy Ongoing Support: Benefit from continuous guidance and support from our team and clinical teams to ensure you feel comfortable and equipped throughout your volunteering journey at University Hospital Geelong.

Ideal Candidate: • Comfortable working within Women’s and Children’s Services environments. • Able to remain calm and compassionate when interacting with distressed patients. • Demonstrates empathy and support for individuals experiencing pain and emotional challenges. • Willing to undertake additional training prior to commencement to ensure full preparedness.
