Role Overview: In this pivotal role, you will be central to ensuring GovHack’s long-term sustainability by identifying, engaging and securing strategic sponsorships. You will develop compelling sponsorship proposals and targeted outreach strategies that attract partners aligned with our mission. A major responsibility is cultivating enduring relationships with both corporate and government stakeholders, ensuring that all sponsors receive their agreed benefits and enjoy significant visibility during GovHack events. This opportunity is ideally suited to individuals with experience in corporate sponsorship, business development, fundraising or relationship management, and who are enthusiastic about networking and securing funding. You will also be responsible for building a team to support you and the sponsors in executing the sponsorship function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop persuasive sponsorship proposals and comprehensive outreach strategies.
  • Identify, engage and secure potential sponsors.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing sponsors.
  • Negotiate and finalise sponsorship agreements.
  • Monitor, track and report on sponsorship performance.
  • Act as a brand ambassador for GovHack.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1-2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in managing teams, volunteers, or staff is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with federal and state government departments is highly regarded.
  • Proven experience in corporate partnerships, business development, fundraising or relationship management, preferably within a non-profit or event-driven context.
  • A solid understanding of the open data, innovation or civic technology landscape.
  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing corporate relationships and executing sponsorship plans.

Expected Time Commitment Approximately 20 hours per month, with additional time required as events approach.
