Retail Assistant - Home Decor/Kitchenware Department

As a Home Decor & Kitchenware Department Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in our mission to provide essential services to Central Coast families. Since 1962, we've been making a difference in our community, and our Op Shop is at the heart of this work.
We're looking for home decor enthusiasts who can help us assess, sort, and display our ever-changing collection of kitchenware, homewares, and decorative items, ensuring they find new homes at fair market value. Your contribution will directly support our disability services while promoting sustainable living in our community. Key Duties:
Sort and evaluate donated homewares and kitchenware for quality and condition - Price items according to our Fair Price Promise guidelines and current market values - Identify premium brands, vintage pieces, and collectable items - Create inspiring displays that showcase current home styling trends - Maintain organised and tidy department presentation with clear categorisation - Monitor stock levels and rotate seasonal decor regularly - Assist customers with home styling advice and product queries - Handle and store delicate items appropriately (crystal, china, ceramics, etc.)
Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of homewares, brands, and current interior trends - Good eye for quality and ability to assess item condition - Physical ability to handle homeware items safely - Organised approach to sorting and categorising merchandise - Customer service skills and friendly demeanour - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Previous homeware retail or op shop experience beneficial but not required - Must be reliable and able to commit to regular shifts
