Volunteer Digital Mentor for Buckland Retirement Village

Volunteer Digital Mentor “Tech Mate” wanted for Buckland Retirement Village Springwood
Nestled in the serene Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Buckland Retirement Village in Springwood offers a comprehensive range of aged care services. The village features a community centre with amenities such as a library, auditorium, craft area, and indoor recreational facilities.
As one of our trained volunteer digital mentor “Tech Mates”, you'll have the opportunity to provide one-on-one support to residents and assist in enhancing their digital skills, helping them stay connected with family, access online services, and explore new interests in a supportive environment.
You don’t need to be an IT expert – if you can send an email, surf the internet, or change a password on a device, you can join the team!
You’ll need to commit to attending from 2pm - 4pm on Tuesdays fortnightly. You’ll help older people solve basic issues with their laptops, tablets, iPads, phones, printers, and desktops, with tasks ranging from helping them to download apps, to setting up emails, to introducing them to social media so they can connect with their friends and families, to mentoring them as they work through Be Connected learning modules.
You’ll need to be friendly, patient, punctual, reliable, and motivated to help older people be online confidently and safely.
All our volunteers must consent to a National Police Check and reference checks, and provide a Covid Vaccination Certificate.
You’ll also need a current First Aid Certificate. (If you don’t have one, we will provide accredited online training within the first 3 months of your joining us.)
We’ll provide you with orientation, training, and ongoing support.
Being a Tech Mate is a really uplifting and amazing experience, and the village is a very comfortable environment with the added benefit of free onsite parking… what’s stopping you? Join us now!
