Join our passionate team at Fairhaven Op Shopping Village and help transform donated books into opportunities for people with disabilities. As a Book Department Volunteer, you'll play a vital role in our mission to provide essential services to Central Coast families. Since 1962, we've been making a difference in our community, and our Op Shop is at the heart of this work.

We're looking for book enthusiasts who can help us sort, organise, and display our ever-changing collection of pre-loved books, ensuring they find new homes at fair prices. Your contribution will directly support our disability services while promoting sustainable shopping in our community. If you have a love for books and a desire to make a meaningful impact, we'd love to welcome you to our volunteer family.

Key Duties:

Sort and assess donated books for quality and saleability - Price books according to our Fair Price Promise guidelines - Organise books by genre and create engaging display arrangements - Keep book section tidy and well-maintained - Monitor stock levels and rotate books as needed - Assist customers with book-related queries when required - Handle and store damaged/unsaleable books appropriately

Skills and Experience:

Basic literacy and ability to identify different book genres - Good physical ability to lift and move boxes of books - Organised and methodical approach to sorting - Customer service skills and friendly demeanour - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Previous retail or library experience beneficial but not required - Must be reliable and able to commit to regular shifts
