Community Engagement and Marketing Volunteer

About Us Friends for Good is a community-focused organisation dedicated to fostering connection and well-being in Australia. Through various initiatives, we work to support individuals, strengthen communities, and promote inclusivity.
Purpose of the Role The Community Engagement and Marketing Volunteer will play a key role in supporting our initiatives in the Geelong region. Working closely with the National Rsearch and Community Education Manager who is also Geelong-based, the successful applicant will work across a variety of projects aimed at increasing social connection in our region.
This position is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in the community sector, build their skills in administration and marketing, or contribute to a meaningful cause.
Key Responsibilities
- Facebook Group Moderation and Promotion: help to expand and encourage engagement in our community-focused Facebook group targeted at those working in the NFP sector in the Geelong region.
- Sponsorship Development: Research and approach local businesses and individuals for sponsorship opportunities for a community walk.
- Program Promotion: Promote a survey and a new program designed for expectant parents through social media, emails, and other networks.
- Administrative Support: Assist with organising and tracking outreach activities. Collaborate with the team to ensure smooth communication and planning.
Requirements
- Based in the Geelong region with a strong understanding of the local community.
- Access to a computer and reliable internet connection.
- Comfortable using Facebook and other social media platforms.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to approach businesses and individuals to build community connections.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage tasks independently.
- Passion for community building and willingness to learn.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Experience in marketing, communications, or administration.
- Interest in community development or the not-for-profit sector.
