Make a Difference: Bus Outing Companion for Seniors - Mondays in Glebe
Help reduce social isolation and bring joy to our community by becoming a volunteer BBQ leader.
About the Role: Join our friendly team by cooking at a small social BBQ for the community
Time Commitment:
- Once a month Wednesday
- 2:30 - 4:00 PM
- Starting point: St Helen's Community Centre, Glebe Point Road
What You'll Do:
- Assist seniors during bus outings to various Sydney locations
- Engage in friendly conversation and provide companionship
- Help with basic mobility support when needed
- Contribute to a positive, inclusive atmosphere
Perfect For:
- People who enjoy connecting with the community
- Those available for monthly commitment on a Wednesday
- Individuals seeking meaningful community engagement
- Active retirees or anyone wanting to give back to the community
- Anyone with a caring nature and good communication skills
Requirements:
- Reliability and punctuality
- Friendly, patient, and empathetic nature
- Basic physical fitness (able to assist with cooking a BBQ)
- Good communication skills
- Police and WWCC (we can assist with both of these)
- Availability to volunteer for at least 3 months
