Honourary Treasurer

Role Description: As the Honourable Treasurer, you’ll be the financial steward of our organisation, overseeing budgeting, reporting, and compliance to support our goals. Working closely with the executive team you'll provide crucial insights to keep us on a strong financial path.
Key Responsibilities:
• Financial Oversight: Manage the organisation’s budget, monitor cash flow, and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting to the Executive Team and Members
• Bookkeeping & Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of income, expenses, and account balances, using financial software or spreadsheets as necessary.
• Budget Planning: Collaborate with the Executive Committee to develop and manage an annual budget that aligns with our strategic priorities.
• Reporting & Analysis: Prepare and present regular financial reports, including monthly statements at Executive and Council meetings and annual reports at AGM, to provide clear insights on our financial health.
• Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial requirements, audits, and reporting standards.
• Fund Management: ensuring donations and grants are properly recorded and utilised and provide financial oversight for grant applications and reporting.
• Annual General Meeting (AGM) Preparation: Assist in preparing financial documents and statements for the AGM, presenting these in a clear and accessible way to Members.
Requirements:
• Strong financial management or accounting experience, ideally in a nonprofit or similar environment.
• Attention to detail, organisational skills, and integrity.
• Proficient with financial software XERO.
• Knowledge of nonprofit finance and compliance requirements (preferred).
• Ability to present financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
• Availability to attend monthly board and Executive meetings and the AGM, usually outside regular business hours.
• Familiarity with SharePoint
