Assistant Race Officer & Rescue Boat Driver- Sailing Club

The junior sailing program at Speers Point Amateur Sailing Club started four years ago and now has 40 participants on the water each week, but the Club’s Junior Sailing Manager Ross Thompson says the demand means more volunteers are needed across the club.
“With much of our focus on the learn to sail programs, we’re now looking for suitable people who love the water to help with racing support. Whether it’s driving rescue boats, being on a start boat or supporting with race management on the water, these are exciting roles.”
“If you’re an active sailor or someone who simply loves the water, this is a fantastic opportunity to get involved, learn new skills, and contribute to the sailing community.”
Mr Thompson says the club invests in its volunteers with training at a high level, “All volunteers receive comprehensive training in race management tasks, ensuring you are well-prepared and confident in your role. You’ll be paired with an experienced volunteer who’ll teach you the role and support you in your development.”
“It’s a wonderful way to spend your Friday evenings or Saturdays out on the water, contributing to the smooth running of our races, and soaking in the beautiful scenery. It’s an experience that combines the thrill of sailing with the joy of community service.”
You don’t need be a paid member of the sailing club to volunteer. The club welcomes anyone who is enthusiastic about sailing and willing to lend a hand. Whether you’re an experienced sailor or new to the sport, there’s a place for you at our club.
