Overview

The Chief Financial and Governance Officer (CFO) is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all administrative, financial and associated risk management activities of Out for Australia Ltd. This involves end-to-end oversight and accountability for the organisation’s financials, budgeting, planning and financial strategy. The position will ensure that all internal and external accountabilities relating the organisation's finances are met, timely and of a high standard.

This is a senior leadership role for OFA, helping support the direction of our key initiatives around the country and helping contribute to the broader organisational strategy. The CFO reports to the CEO and has reporting responsibilities to the Board.

Responsibilities:

Financial Operations and Management (25%)

  • Ensure OFA upholds operational best practices.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Manage the provision of payroll.
  • Manage infrastructure – banking, merchant facilities, donation and payment platforms.
  • Lead expenses policy, expense claim process and debit card use.
  • Manage cash flow, revenue and expenses.
  • Oversee approvals process.

Financial Strategy (20%)

  • Assess the feasibility of a paid accounting and financial reporting functions, and manage its implementation if required.
  • Consider investment opportunities.
  • Provide insights and advice on financial management to leadership and Board.

Financial Risk Management (20%)

  • Understand, mitigate and manage financial risks in the organisation.
  • Be an active member of the Risk and Compliance board subcommittee.
  • Construct and monitor reliable internal controls.
  • Ensure organisation compliance with finance policies.
  • Report risks to CEO and Board.

Financial Reporting (20%)

  • Ensure record-keeping meets internal and external requirements.
  • Assist with reporting of financial results in strict accordance with deadlines.
  • Improve reporting processes.
  • Ensure the delivering of reports for: External Tax, Superannuation and GST, ACNC, reconciliations.
  • Present and report to the Board every 6 weeks.

Budgets and Forecast (5%)

  • Coordinate end-to-end annual budget process.
  • Manage relationships and communications with key stakeholders of the process.
  • Forecast financials and compare to actuals and budget to provide ongoing advice to the leadership team and Board.

Strategic and organisational responsibilities (5%)

  • Participate in National Executive meetings (every six weeks).
  • Participate in Senior Executive meetings, with the rest of the C-Suite (fortnightly).
  • Weekly communication with the CEO, including fortnightly 1:on:1s in the alternate week to the C-Suite meetings.
  • Contribute to high-level strategic and organisation planning.

General volunteer expectations (5%)

  • Undertake an OFA volunteer induction and role onboarding.
  • Understand and implement OFA’s strategy, vision and mission.
  • Uphold our volunteer code of conduct.
  • Assist with initiatives as required.
