ABOUT THE MEN’S KITCHEN

There are many older people in the community who throughout their life have had no need or desire to spend any time in the kitchen. At this time, it is particularly the case with older men. The Men’s Kitchen was established to help older men to learn some basic kitchen skills in a socially friendly environment. The Men’s Kitchen started its six-person operation in 2016 with the intent to teach a few local older men how to cook and for them to make some new mates in the process. However, the local interest was so huge that in the next four years we expanded to over 100 members, cooking at three Northern Beaches locations. Motivated by this growth we restructured our operation to become a not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee to permit a national expansion program. The Men’s Kitchen Association Limited, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, was formed in 2020 and since then we have continued our expansion program into Ku-ring-gai, Canberra and soon on the Gold Coast and Sydney’s Hills District.
