Volunteering Central Coast

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) is funded by the Australia Government. It supports regular in-person volunteer visits for friendship and companionship to older people living in aged care homes in the Central Coast region.

If you live in the southern part the Central Coast, there's a new friend waiting to meet you right now!

We're looking for volunteers who live, work, or are willing to travel to Gosford, Lisarow, Wyoming, Erina, Woy Woy, Point Clare and Umina Beach areas wanting to make a real difference to the social wellbeing of an older person.

Just an hour, once a week or fortnight, can make a real difference to an older person who is socially isolated and feeling lonely.

All you need is:

  • one hour free a week or fortnight
  • the ability to be a friend

You can do things together like:

  • share stories and look at photos
  • have a chat over a cuppa
  • take a walk
  • work on a joint hobby together
  • visit with your dog for animal companionship
  • visit with young children for the benefits of intergenerational connections
  • go on outings together in your local community

About you:

  • aged 18 years and older
  • empathetic, with a genuine warmth towards older people
  • good communicator and a great listener
  • willing to commit for a minimum of 12 months or longer

You will be supported in your role by a Volunteering Central Coast ACVVS Coordinator.

Volunteers are required to undergo a police check and complete a short online training program before commencing in their volunteering role.

In-person visits take place in aged care homes in locations across the Central Coast NSW region. ACVVS Volunteers do not undertake any clinical or home/personal care duties as part of their visits. Your visit is purely for the joy of a social visit.
