Conversations for Change: Gambling Harm Awareness Week

Wesley Mission
Logo for Wesley Mission

Gambling harm is a significant issue in Australia, especially in NSW. Join us for Gambling Harm Awareness Week (GHAW) to promote awareness and support those affected. This year’s theme, “Let’s change the conversation,” focuses on changing the language around gambling and starting positive conversations about gambling harm.

Events:

  • Put Pokies in their Place: 21 October, Sydney CBD

Join us outside of Wesley Mission in Pitt Street to help raise awareness about Gambling Harm. We will be talking with people and asking them to sign up to a petition for change.

  • Gambling Impact Roundtable: 22 October, Dee Why

Join us at the Gambling Impact Roundtable to discuss the reality of gambling harm and what can be done to address it. This event will feature a panel of experts who will challenge misconceptions and highlight the importance of formal gambling impact statements.

  • Parliament House Panel: 24 October, Sydney CBD

Be part of the conversation at the Parliament House Panel, where experts will discuss technical changes like ‘account-based gambling’ and how to overcome resistance to these changes. This panel aims to support gambling harm minimisation through informed discussion.

Volunteer with us to raise awareness, support your community, and make a difference!
