We are looking for WA based Schools Coordinators to lead AYCC engagement with schools in Perth and South West WA. This includes organising AYCC schools workshops in the local area and building relationships with schools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet regularly (monthly) with Schools Program Manager as part of a national cohort meeting
  • Connect and update WA local group on national schools program
  • Organise workshops in your local area for local schools
  • Recruit facilitators from the local group to those workshops
  • Trains the local group schools facilitators in facilitation
  • Give feedback on workshops and adapt workshops to local context
  • Record schools workshops in workshop log and keep the log up to date
  • Support students to meaningfully engage with our local group and help to create a safe and accessible space for under 18s
  • Act as a key helper for school summits in your area where relevant

**WHAT YOU'LL LEARN **

  • How to facilitate effective workshops in schools about climate justice
  • How to communicate climate change effectively
  • How to do outreach to schools and build ongoing relationships with schools
  • How to create a safe, welcoming and accessible environment for high school students
  • How to support other volunteers to engage with our schools program

**KEY SKILLS, CHARACTERISTICS AND EXPERIENCE **

  • Strong initiative and drive, and good time management
  • Passionate about climate justice
  • Experience working with other young people and in high school settings
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a wide-range of audiences from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work well in a team and support others to take action
