Overview

Out For Australia is constantly looking for ways to expand and grow our volunteer network. As our organisation continues to grow, we need to ensure that our People & Culture processes are consistent and that all volunteers have a positive volunteering experience. The People & Culture Coordinator will be responsible for providing support across the portfolio, but will also have a dedicated focus on either onboarding, recruitment, learning and development, or volunteer engagement.

This is an excellent volunteer opportunity for aspiring People & Culture or HR professionals or students seeking experience in this field.

Responsibilities:

Providing assistance and support across the People & Culture portfolio (50%)

  • Recruitment: Supporting the organisation in recruiting new volunteer resources.
  1. Answering questions internally about our recruitment process and directing people to our recruitment resources.
  2. Reviewing draft position descriptions.
  3. Being involved in the interview process when required.
  4. Updating our recruitment systems to ensure accurate collection of data.
  • Onboarding: Facilitating the smooth onboarding of new volunteer resources.
  1. Answering questions around our onboarding process and directing people to our onboarding resources.
  2. Completing internal onboarding processes (drafting volunteer agreements, sending communications, etc.).
  3. Hosting or supporting in group welcome sessions for new volunteers.
  • Volunteer Engagement: Working to ensure all our volunteers have a positive experience.
  1. Consult with volunteers across the organisation in relation to volunteer engagement.
  2. Design and pilot discrete volunteer engagement activities to foster an engaged and rewarded volunteer base.
  3. Lead or support engagement activities, together with other members of the P&C Team, as required.
  • Learning and Development: Supporting the personal and professional growth of our volunteers.
  1. Lead or support discrete learning and development activities as required.
  2. Coordinate internal marketing of learning and development activities to actively encourage volunteer participation.
  3. Support volunteers in preparing their personal development plans.

**Specialise in one key area of the People & Culture portfolio (40%) **

  • Take ownership of either recruitment, onboarding, volunteer engagement or learning and development.
  • Together with the Chief People Officer, coordinate task allocation within your focus area and train new People & Culture Coordinators.
  • Support the Chief People Officer in setting broader initiatives and strategy in your focus area.

General volunteer expectations (10%)

  • Undertake an OFA volunteer induction and role onboarding.
  • Understand and implement OFA’s strategy, vision and mission.
  • Uphold our volunteer code of conduct.
  • Assist with initiatives as required.
