Committee Treasurer - The Gutsy Group
Duties
Manage all financial aspects of The Gutsy Group, keep up to date records and together with our other Committee members ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Pay bills, issue invoices and receipts, and record transactions in MYOB. Reconcile cash accounts and manage term deposits.
Prepare and circulate financial reports for monthly Board meetings. Ensure mandatory retention of documents and financial records. Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures.
Attend Board meetings (in person or via Zoom) and participate in key decision making. Liaise with our external accountant and auditor during their review and preparation of Annual Financial Accounts.
Prepare the financial report for the Annual General Meeting and present to the Committee.
Participate in meetings and provide updates on governance and financial matters. Complete and lodge statutory returns and other reporting as required by regulation including compliance with requirements of Australian Charities and ‘not for profit’ Commission (ACNC).
Skills and experience
Organised, reliable, self-motivated and an eye for detail. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with the Chair and Management Committee members. Experience with finance and reporting.
Desired skills
Knowledge of ‘not for profit’ sector or a desire to undertake relevant training. Experience in a similar role
The role of Secretary requires an estimated time commitment of 4-6 hours per month.
Committee meetings are held after hours, approximately 8-9 per year. Committee Members also attend fundraising functions (currently 1-2 per year).
