We are BCR Communities – a not-for-profit community organisation serving communities within the Illawarra and Shoalhaven for over 30 years (formerly Bay & Basin Community Resources).

We are seeking to recruit a number of new Volunteer Driver Mentors to support our community in a brand new program. This program will help young people, people with disability and new migrants become safe and confident drivers. This free program matches learner drivers with volunteer mentor drivers who assist them with obtaining their required hours of supervised driving experience in a BCR supplied Driver Mentoring vehicle.

If you would be happy to volunteer an hour or two of your time a week to get the program started. This will be a life-changing opportunity for the participants. A Drivers Licence will give them independence and improve their access to employment, education, training and social activities. We also believe it will be a richly rewarding experience for the Driver Mentors – you will get to know the participants you mentor and share in their joy when they pass their test and walk away with their Provisional licence.

We need volunteers in Nowra, the Bay & Basin and Ulladulla who are fully licensed, with a good driving history, and available for a minimum of one hour per week to help learners gain on-road experience in different conditions. BCR Communities vehicles are supplied for the mentoring sessions.

Initial training is provided however volunteers should be open to other training that may arise and be applicable to the role.
