Human Resources Manager
- Description: The primary function of the Human Resources Manager is to develop and implement effective human resource frameworks, policies, procedures and programs to ensure that ADF can attract, retain, develop and manage a highly engaged and committed workforce.
- Term: 12 month term, 3 months probation

- Position reports to: Board of Directors
Purpose:
The Human Resources Manager works with the Board of Directors and President of the Australian Dodgeball Federation to identify, develop and implement solutions across a range of human resource functions including workforce planning, managing for performance, industrial relations, work, health and safety, organisational design, organisational development and staff development. The Human Resources Manager in partnership with the Board of Directors and President of the Australian Dodgeball Federation , also develops and implements key change management strategies and services to improve staff and business performance and to develop a positive organisational culture. The Human Resources Manager will partner with multiple departments to drive measurable results that benefit the Australian Dodgeball Federation.
Responsibilities:
As an ADF representative:
- Operational managers and Board Directors are expected to work together collaboratively to achieve the Board’s purpose outlined in the - Strategic Plan and should speak publicly with a single collective voice
- Respect the confidentiality of information and not disclose to any other person confidential information other than as agreed;
- Act as a role model, change agent and professional exemplar in all matters concerning the Australian Dodgeball Federation.
As a Human Resources Manager:
- Volunteer recruitment and selection: Management of the recruitment and selection process including job advertisements, position descriptions, participation in all Volunteer interviews, preparation of Volunteer contracts, offer negotiation and reference checks;
- Volunteer Onboarding: Induction and onboarding, including Training, participation in performance reviews, grievance procedures, performance management, exit management;
- Volunteer engagement: Initiate and implement programs to support employee engagement and to foster a high-performance culture;
- HR administration: Developing, reviewing and maintaining HR policies and procedures.
Time commitment: Operational managers can expect to spend, on average, two (2) hours per week on related tasks, including writing a monthly update submission to the Board for Board meetings;
In addition to the weekly commitments, the annual functions and minimum time commitment are set out below: Annual Conference/ AGM: 2 hours each year Participation in membership activities outside of meetings (e.g. Awards dinner, championship presentations): Negotiable as required.
Key Performance Indicators
- Reviews are undertaken every year by the Board of Directors to determine overall achievements and ongoing suitability for the role;
- Timely submissions to the Board each month;
- Participation in membership activities;
- The Australian Dodgeball Federation being regarded by affiliated organisations as well organised, efficient, professional and stakeholder focussed;
- Maintenance of sound working relationships with principal stakeholders, stakeholder and affiliates;
- Financial viability of The Australian Dodgeball Federation; and
- Responsiveness to communication/feedback.
Essential Skills and Requirements:
The Human Resources Manager may have one or more of the following qualifications for election or appointment:
- Knowledge and experience in strategic and operational Human - Resources requirements, including employment legislation, compensation, recruitment, employee relations, safety, employee engagement and development;
- Ability to develop effective working relationships and demonstrate collaborative approaches with a broad range of stakeholders;
- Enthusiasm for the company and its growth potential;
- Exceptional project management skills, organizational skills and - Problem-solving skills;
- Clear verbal and written communication skills;
- Sharp negotiation and networking skills
- Strong administrative skills
