St Vincent's CareKnit Together Joy: Volunteer for Our Knitting Program Do you have a passion for knitting and a heart for giving back? We’re seeking enthusiastic knitting volunteers to join our Coffee & Chat Program, where you can use your knitting skills to bring comfort and joy to elderly residents in aged care homes.
What You’ll Do:
- Knit and create cozy items such as scarves, blankets, and hats for residents
- Assist residents with their own knitting projects and share tips
- Participate in knitting sessions that foster social interaction and creativity
- Engage in friendly conversations and build connections with residents
Why Volunteer? Knitting provides a wonderful way to create handmade gifts that offer warmth and comfort. By volunteering your time and skills, you’ll help enhance the well-being of elderly residents and foster a sense of community through shared creative activities.
Program Details:
- Commitment: Ideally you will be available for a minimum of 20 knitting sessions per year, ideally one session every two to three weeks, during business hours (Monday to Friday), lasting 1 hour or so per session.
- Requirements: You will be over 18 and willing to pass a National Criminal History Check (provided and paid for) and be consistently available.
