Youth in Motion is looking for executive board members to join our Learning Project team! With Youth in Motion, you will be providing advice and guidance to a small organisation working to reduce educational disadvantage in Australia. In this role you will focus on organisational strategy, business growth, and student care.
Organisational Background: Youth in Motion started in 2016 as a pilot program, The Learning Project, at Naremburn School, in Sydney. The pilot provided learning support to local school students who were disadvantaged or at-risk of disengaging from education. The Learning Project was a success and has now grown to become ‘Youth in Motion’.
We are a volunteer-led organisation providing free online tutoring and youth worker support to disadvantaged students across Sydney. We are a team of passionate volunteers committed to empowering disadvantaged youth through education.
Your Role: We are looking for executive board members with experience in areas such as business, social work, education, and not-for-profits. You will use your network and experience to effectively guide the organisation in implementing its strategic goals. You will be required to review organisational documents, attend board meetings, provide strategic advice, and contribute to the growth of the organisation. You will have a ‘can do’ attitude, and be willing to pitch in, to help turn ideas into outcomes.

Ability and willingness to devote the necessary time to the role of Non-Executive Director

Valid Voluntary Working with Children Check and Police Check

Competence with online tools (Slack, Google Suite, Monday.com)
It is expected you will bring relevant and diverse networks, with the ability to engage with contacts to support our programs, policy, influencing and/or fundraising work.
Specific experience for Executive Board Director - Social Work/Counselling/Psychology
In addition to the above, it is expected that the Executive Board Director - Social Work will have specific experience working with vulnerable youth and an in-depth understanding of the psychosocial pressures and environments leading to disadvantage. The key role for this position will be to provide expert advice to the organisation to ensure all our work considers and positively impacts our clients.
Specific experience for Executive Board Director - NFP Business Development
In addition to the above, it is expected that the Executive Board Director - NFP will have lived experience of disadvantage as a young person, or in-depth understanding of this experience. It is highly desirable if this individual has key experience and knowledge of youth-focused NFP and NGOs. The key role for this position will be to provide expert advice to the organisation in key areas such as business development, fundraising initiatives and writing grant proposals.
