Palliative Care Volunteers

This volunteer role may suit persons with lived experience, grief counselling experience and palliative care experience and those who would enjoy reading, talking and sharing in gentle activities with residents.
**Provide companionship: ** Spend quality time with seniors, offering a listening ear and a warm presence. Time can be spent in conversation and assisting with activities such as reading, playing card / board games, writing, and art or music therapy. Emotional Support: Provide empathy, understanding and kindness to seniors and their families. Advocacy: Provide support to assist in needs being met. Flexible Commitment: Volunteer hours are flexible, including weekdays and weekends.
Desirable attributes: Empathy: Understand emotions relating to grief and loss. Respect: Be able to honour diversity in beliefs and philosophy. Emotional Maturity: Be able to manage emotion well in difficult situations. Confidentiality: Uphold confidentiality and safeguard privacy. Team Player: Be able to connect and support residents and their families alongside Anglicare staff and volunteers.
