About the role
Climate Action Burwood Canada Bay is looking for skilled volunteers to support our Stitch It Don’t Ditch It community program aimed at beginners in sewing.
The program runs on Wednesdays over 6 weeks, from 10am to 12.30pm, starting 30 April and ending 4 June at Woodstock Community Centre in Burwood.
Participants (limited to 12) will gain hands-on experience with sewing machines and learn both hand-sewing and machine repair techniques.
We need experienced sewers to assist these participants. Volunteers are welcome to join for a minimum of two sessions on Wednesdays that fit their schedule.
The experience is both fun and rewarding, involving 2.5 hours of enjoyable interaction with enthusiastic learners.
Ideal volunteers should have:
- Proficiency in machine sewing
- A passion for teaching and helping others learn to sew
