Volunteering with the Ankali Project means that you are matched one- on- one with your client, a socially isolated person living with HIV. Your volunteer work is about providing social support, and emotional support. Social support is about being social with your client- catching up over coffee, going for a walk together, seeing them at home, or going to a movie. The emotional support is about building rapport and trust with your client, listening to them without judgement, and showing empathy. Before you are assigned a client you are required to attend 3 days of Volunteer Training at the Ankali Project.

Next Ankali Volunteer intake commences in August with Volunteer Interviews on Friday August 30th

Training: These interviews are in preparation for Ankali Volunteer Training in October, on the dates of: Saturday 12th Sunday 13th Saturday 19th

All three days must be attended.

During your volunteer service you have ongoing support and supervision through Volunteer Support Groups.

Volunteer Support Group meetings take place at the Albion Centre, at 345 Crown St Surry Hills. You can also attend these meetings online.

The location of your meetings with your clients depends on where you client lives, and where you are located, or how much you are willing to travel.
