Volunteer Driver required for Social Support Group - Mondays
Do you like helping others? Do you have a full driver licence? Are you available on Mondays from 9.00 am to 10.00 am and from 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm to drive SMRC clients using the SMRC bus from their home to community activities and back home? If so, we need YOU.
About us The Southern Migrant and Refugee Centre (SMRC) is a not-for-profit community-based agency providing services to migrants and refugees living in the southern region of Melbourne, including the local government areas of City of Greater Dandenong, City of Casey, Shire of Cardinia, and surrounding suburbs.
For 30 years SMRC has supported the settlement of newly arrived refugees and provided community-based services for migrants and refugees through funded in-language social, economic, health and wellbeing programs. SMRC provides a wide range of aged care services, ensuring that older community members have access to care and support that is culturally sensitive, and in-language where required.
SMRC operates a multicultural labour hire service, which provides a culturally sensitive and in-language alternative to in-home care.
The vision of SMRC is to ensure that migrants and refugees are enabled to achieve their goals and aspirations. We exist to support and empower migrants and refugees through our delivery of programs and services that are innovative, inclusive, and impactful.
About the Role Our Social Support Groups offer social opportunities to CALD members living at home.
We encourage and support participants in living a healthy lifestyle through physical activities, nutrition and emotional well-being. Your contribution will help increase our clients connection with the community and enhance their sense of well-being.
The volunteer role will require you to pick up the clients from their home and drive them to their activity centre and back home, in the SMRC bus. A commitment of at least six months is required.
A full driver license is required and a clear National Police Check and VicRoads driving history check are required and will be processed by Southern Migrant and Refugee Centre free of charge to the volunteer.
Volunteers are required to apply/provide their own Volunteer Working with Children Check which is free for volunteers.
Please include a contact number with your expression of Interest.
This program is funded by the Australian Government through the Department of Health under the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
