Catalyst Learning Volunteers support disadvantaged clients of Mission Australia with a tutoring program that facilitates a students capacity to learn through mentoring including encouragement, collaborative information gathering, active listening and constructive feedback.

Catalyst Learning Volunteers will:

• work with assigned student/s to provide assistance in completing assessment items for units of studies in a humanities course

• assist the student to develop study skills to facilitate the successful completion of the study

• Coach the student in identifying resources to complete the assessment

• Review assignments as needed

• provide positive feedback on student progress and encourage the students progress and focus on achieving their academic goals

You will need:

• previous experience if undergraduate or postgraduate university study

• great interpersonal skills

• respect the individuality of each service user/visitor and treat them in a caring and non judgmental manner

• Ability to refrain from imposing your own philosophical, moral or religious standards/beliefs upon service users

• Ability to support Mission Australia purpose and values and work in accordance with policies and procedures
