Our Organisation 

The Nurtured Village Hampers (TNVH) is registered maternal mental health charity for the advocacy and prevention of recognised mental health disorders in Australian mothers. The purpose of the organisation is to build communities of villages for Maternal Mental Health in towns and cities around Australia. The organisations vision is for all Australian mums to feel supported in early parenthood in a traditional village model of care.  TNVH does this through community support through their villages, in partnerships with others, and by connecting Mums to traditional village support, services/ support available based on their needs.  

The Role  

We are looking for applications from individuals with qualifications and extensive experience as a Chairperson, to join our Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director for The Nurtured Village Hampers Ltd.

Prior experience as a board director on the board for another Australian or international NFP or mental health charities in a chair capacity will be regarded highly. We expect that your experience and expertise in providing leadership and director on a Board for a non-for-profit organisation will be used to strengthen the current position of TNVH, improve our impact and ensure our success as an organisation. We welcome all expression of interests (EOIs) from applicants that believe can help us by doing this.

Key Responsibilities

Contribute to the strategic leadership of the organisation and the Board, through continuous participation in conceptualising and strategically planning the organisations future.

Lead monthly Board Meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM) by seeking agenda items, preparing papers and providing other Chairperson duties.

Develop and implement strategies and practices that align with the charity's mission and values, to increase the nationwide footprint of the Charity, increase volunteer participation and engagement, and manage organisational change and growth.

Lead and participate in formal strategic planning and review sessions.

Build and maintain partnerships with other community organisations, businesses and stakeholders to enhance our services and reach a wider audience.

Ensure the organisation is fully compliant with the organisations constitution, regulatory, contractual and policy responsibilities and operates within its mandate.

Contribute to collaborate teamwork that demonstrates a culturally inclusive workplace for our volunteers, clients and our community.

Contribute to a team culture of inspiration and passion for our organisation

Contribute to the promotion of our brand by all members of the team

We expect that as a Board Member you will be passionate about our work and our impact and will continue to advocate for our organisation.

Operate and collaborate within Microsoft Office suite

Key Competencies & Experience

Experience in the Non-for-Profit sector, preferably in a Charity environment.

Prior Board and/or Committee experience as a chairperson or in a leadership position, will be highly regarded.

Ability to work collaboratively with other Non-Executive Directors while maintaining independent thought and preparedness to challenge others thinking
