As part of the federally funded Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme; compassionate, caring and friendly volunteers are appreciated to visit and provide social support with elderly residents in an aged care facility in the Penrith area.

It is purely about social interaction, connection and conversation so as to provide some joy and pleasure in the life of these residents. A commitment of at least 1 hour a fortnight is needed on an ongoing basis so a rapport and trust can be developed between the volunteer and the resident.

The role is flexible, and visits can be organised at a suitable time and day once a week/fortnight at your convenience, including weekends. If you speak Tibetan, you will be a great match for this elderly person who is isolated due to his language limitation. Individuals who are willing to give a little bit of their time in conversation, who are reliable, patient and compassionate, and have a positive attitude for life are encouraged to apply.
