About Safe Ride:

Safe Ride is a unique opportunity to be part of a solution-focused project that merges technology, innovation, and community co-design. Our goal is to create new assistive technologies to prevent unwanted buckle release and tackle related challenges, ensuring a safer future on the roads for children and adults with disabilities.

Who we are looking for:

We welcome volunteers from diverse backgrounds with a passion for contributing to the Safe Ride project. Whether you have lived experience or professional expertise, your skills and insights are invaluable. We’re seeking individuals with experience or interest in the following areas:

• Lived Experience: Individuals personally impacted by road safety challenges.

• Engineering: Biomedical, mechanical, and other engineering fields.

• Industrial Design: Specialist in product and design concepts

• Materials and Manufacturing: Experts in materials science and production techniques

• Electronics and Emerging Technologies: Innovators in electronics and tech development

• Health Professionals: Physiotherapists, occupational therapist, allied health workers focused on user-centered design  

• Administration: Skills in documentation, client communication, event support etc

• Creative Thinkers: Craft skills, sewing. 3D printing, lateral thinking and more.

  Volunteer Details:

• Set your project involvement based on your interest, availability, and experience.

• Work form home or at the Freedom Solutions office in Northmead NSW, or Coburg North VIC.

• Participate in collaborative meetings and client workshops, both online and in-person

• Contribute to various phases of the project, from research and design to prototyping and evaluation.
