Social Support volunteers needed

Our Social Centres are dedicated to providing our clients a supportive place to make new friends and engage in interests and hobbies with others, under the support of our care team and volunteers.

About the role

As a volunteer in our Social Centres you assist the care team at one of our centres to deliver a range of meaningful activities for our clients. These may include: • Transporting clients to and from social centres gardening • meal preparation • music, arts, and crafts sessions • completing puzzles and board games • social outings in the community. During the sessions you can also share your interests with your clients, and help them work towards their goals, such as starting a new hobby.

About you

  • No qualifications or work experience are needed

  • Great interpersonal skills, who can work independently, and like teamwork. Our roles are ideal for people who enjoy spending time with older people in the community.

  • As a Silverchain volunteer you will also share our values of respect, trust, and compassion for others.

  • Your hours are flexible to meet your needs. , anytime from Monday to Friday between 8.00am to 4.00pm. You can also use these hours towards your Centrelink requirements.

  • We provide all volunteers with an orientation and induction to Silverchain, including relevant training to make sure you feel confident to support clients, their families, and carers.
