Edmund Rice Centre WA has successfully provided Language for Living in Australia - English language classes\, to adults from refugee and migrant backgrounds for 22 years. We are looking for a qualified English teacher to join a group of 18 current volunteers and assistants in a friendly and supportive environment.

Position description: The Volunteer Educator facilitates classes and helps in the Language for Living in Australia program. Our 2-hour classes are held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings during school terms. A full range of resources are available and current teachers and ERCWA staff will provide support as required. Some of our volunteers teach 4 classes a week while some teach just one class a week. We can be flexible to work this around your availability. We are looking for a volunteer who will be able to provide continuity for the students and commit to attending a complete term (10 Weeks).

The Volunteer Educator will work with Language for Living Program Coordinator.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

·         To respect and be compassionate to the relevant cultures, religions, and customs of the clients in the course.  ·         To make use of the teaching resources available at the Centre. 

  Qualification: Relevant tertiary, professional or technical qualifications and/or certification. If you do not have any of the above qualifications, contact us and we can discuss how we can utilise your skills.

Established in 1998 to provide essential settlement services and community education activities in the northern suburbs of Perth, the Centre services have expanded throughout the metropolitan area.

Parking is available next to the Centre and Mirrabooka bus station is a 10-minute walk.
