ARE YOU A LEADER - WANT TO EMPOWER WOMEN?

Support The Girls Australia
Logo for Support The Girls Australia

Support the Girls Australia's core purpose is to support women face-to-face, to connect with compassion, and to empower. We aim to support disenfranchised and isolated women in the communities in which they live. We need team leader volunteers who live across the Western Sydney region. The suburbs listed form a loose boundary of where we help.

We need a volunteer coordinator. This is a vital role and ideal for someone that is a people person. We have a wonderful tribe of volunteers that need someone to support and guide them. Your role is to organise monthly meetings with the CEO and be the first point of contact for our new volunteers. Your passion for live and people will make a huge difference. This is a role that you can add your personality to. The reward is an incredible tribe of women that will enjoy input and friendship.

We also need a warehouse coordinator. This is a crucial role. The charity has excellent systems and processes that have been implemented with great success at our head office in QLD. We need to get our Sydney warehouse at the same level. This role needs someone who has a can do attitude but more importantly someone that actually gets the job done. You will work closely with our CEO who will be your support system all the way.

We need you because you live in those communities where we have our reach. 99% of our engagement and connections with vulnerable women is during the week, so it is important that you are available during week days.

The women we support have experienced, or are experiencing, domestic abuse, financial hardship, homelessness, loss of a spouse or family member and various other situations beyond their control. Our support is regardless of age, belief, cultural background, or income.

You can help support and reach out to those vulnerable women in your community. This is what we do together:

  • provide support services to meet the basic needs of women and adolescent girls who may be homeless, at risk of homelessness, disadvantaged or marginalised through poverty or other life circumstances

  • measure, fit and provide bras and personal hygiene items

  • provide personal support and advocacy

  • enhance personal development, relationship skills and other life skills for those who access our service through a variety of responses and activities

  • identify the need in your community and work to address that for those women identified.

You can discover how deep your compassion is by helping in the following areas:

  • sorting and processing donations

  • creating care packs

  • working at bra-gifting events

  • supporting our rural Outreach (extra selection process in place)

  • marketing

  • fundraising

  • helping with administration

  • donating your skills such as bra-fitting or hairdressing

  • helping if you are fluent in a language other than English.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE FOUR TO SIX HOURS A WEEK TO GIVE. THIS IS MAINLY DURING THE WEEK AND ON RARE OCCASSION A WEEKEND.

Please visit our website for more information.

Please note we only take genuine volunteers. If you are volunteering to meet the requirements of Centrelink, please be aware we do not provide Centrelink letters.
