Board positions - Secretary and Tresurer

There are two positions available on Yogahood Australia’s governance Board. Secretary and Treasurer opportunities.

As a Board member, you will serve as a key leader and advisor for Yogahood Australia, a not-for-profit organisation focused on bringing yoga and mindfulness practices to communities and neighbourhoods in need.

The Board members help to shape the strategic direction of the organisation, provide guidance on financial and operational matters, and help to build relationships with key stakeholders and partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Attend and participate in regular board meetings, as well as any special meetings as needed.
  • Review and provide input on organisational policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Contribute to the development of the organisation's strategic plan and annual budget.
  • Ensure that the organisation is in compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of new board members, as needed.
  • Act as a spokesperson for the organisation, representing Yogahood Australia at events and meetings with stakeholders and partners.
  • Help to build relationships with key stakeholders and partners, including donors, community organisations, and other relevant groups.
  • Contribute to the fundraising efforts of the organisation, including identifying and cultivating potential donors and sponsors.

Qualifications

  • Strong commitment to the mission and values of Yogahood Australia.
  • Experience in not-for-profit governance or leadership, preferably at the board level.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and provide sound judgment and guidance to the organisation.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Experience with yoga and mindfulness practices is a plus, but not required.

Time commitment As a Board member, we require a commitment to a minimum two-year term, with the option to serve additional terms as needed. Monthly board meetings are held virtually, and additional time may be required for committee meetings and other organisational activities.

Compensation This is a voluntary position, so there is no compensation provided.
