The Lutruwita Art Orchestra Inc (LAO) is a semi-professional ensemble of 17 musicians, diverse in culture, gender and ability. It is a platform for musicians and other art-form creatives to collaborate and create a uniquely Tasmanian sonic culture through improvisation and radical fusion. We are currently funded by Arts Tasmania and Creative Australia.

The LAO is incorporated in Tasmania. The primary role of the Board of Management is to provide effective governance and seek sustainable resourcing for the organisation. The Board approves and monitors LAO’s strategic direction, provides sound financial management and ensures statutory compliance, guiding and supporting the Executive Producer/CEO, who leads a team of three other staff.

The Board meets a minimum of 6 times per year and the Executive meets in intervening periods. The LAO office is based at Kickstart Arts in New Town, and the Board meets both in-person and online. The CEO is supported by a professional bookkeeper and we use Xero for our accounting / payroll systems. On average you may expect to dedicate a minimum of 2-4 hours per fortnight to the role.
