About us

The Australian Council for Student Voice Ltd. (ACSV) is the national body for the promotion and development of student voice. We bring together like minded individuals and provide support for them to create meaningful change as a collective, towards an education system where student voice thrives.

We are dedicated to making a meaningful difference, and our work is fuelled by the passion and commitment of individuals like yourself who share our vision for positive change.

About the role

As a board member, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of the ACSV, ensuring effective governance, and guiding our efforts to achieve our goals. Board members serve a two-year term, renewable up to nine years. The board meets regularly, approximately every second month on a weekday evening.

Key responsibilities of a Board Member vary, and can include:

  • strategic planning: providing input on key initiatives, priorities, and strategies to achieve goals
  • governance: actively engaging in board meetings, discussions, and decision-making processes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • financial oversight: monitor ongoing financial performance and identify and manage potential risks

About you

As we continue our journey, we are seeking experienced and dedicated individuals to join our board of directors. We are particularly interested in individuals who bring expertise in student empowerment, fundraising, and corporate governance, as well as a deep commitment to our cause. Your insights, experience, and dedication will be invaluable assets as we navigate the opportunities and challenges ahead.

Previous experience serving on a board or equivalent governing body is not required, but does help. We’re on the lookout for members with an ability to think strategically, analyse complex issues, and make informed decisions; strong values of integrity, ethical conduct, and a willingness to act in the best interests of the organization and its stakeholders.
